Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan of Kogi Central has expressed profound gratitude to her constituents for what she described as “unwavering faith and resilience” through her political journey, even as she detailed far-reaching development projects and empowerment programmes facilitated during her tenure.

Addressing a large crowd of supporters across the five local government areas of Kogi Central: Okene, Adavi, Okehi, Ajaokuta, and Ogori-Magongo, the senator reflected on her two-year stewardship in the National Assembly, acknowledging the challenges, victories, and the enduring bond with her people.

“Two years ago, you gave me the sacred trust to represent you in the Senate of our great nation. Today, I stand before you deeply humbled and eternally grateful,” she declared, her voice laced with emotion.

Senator Natasha, who faced what she termed an “unjust suspension” lasting six months, said the ordeal only strengthened her resolve to deliver dividends of democracy to her people. She commended her constituents for resisting attempts to recall her from the National Assembly, describing their solidarity as a turning point that “birthed a renewed commitment of service.”

Despite the political turbulence, the lawmaker outlined a wide range of completed and ongoing projects across Kogi Central. These include:

  • Construction of two modern markets in Okene and Okehi LGAs, each equipped with 80 shops, abattoirs, electricity, water supply, and toilets.
  • Establishment of a new primary and secondary school with teachers’ quarters, power supply, and water facilities at Osaka/Abobo in Adavi LGA.
  • Installation of 14 solar-powered water systems with capacities ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 litres across the five LGAs.
  • Deployment of 2,000 smart solar-powered streetlights across major towns and communities in Ajaokuta, Adavi, Okehi, Okene, and Ogori-Magongo.
  • Police housing quarters and patrol vehicles for the Ihima police station.
  • Provision of eight 500kva ABB transformers to boost electricity supply across the senatorial district.
  • Mega empowerment programmes for 2,000 beneficiaries with equipment such as deep freezers, sewing machines, gas cookers, grinding machines, solar-powered vehicles, and farming tools.
  • Training and empowerment of 230 women and youths with high-tech tools including drones, laptops, and renewable energy kits.

She also revealed the commissioning of a General Electric CT Scan machine at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja—donated by NLNG—and the establishment of the Kogi Central People’s Company, a limited-by-guarantee entity modelled after Singapore’s People’s Association, to manage community assets and development initiatives.

“Our greatest victories have been in the hearts of the people,” Natasha said. “Every project represents the faith of those who stood with me through trials. My mission remains to ensure that every budget and policy reflects the heartbeat of Kogi Central.”

The senator, who has also sponsored the Bill for the Establishment of a National Autism and Neurodevelopmental Centre, reaffirmed her pledge to remain “accessible, accountable, and action-driven.”

She attributed her perseverance to divine grace, her family’s support—especially her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan—and the unflinching loyalty of her constituents.

“This celebration is not about me; it is about us — about the journey we have begun and the future we are building together,” she concluded, calling on women and youths never to doubt the power of their voices.

With renewed optimism and an impressive record of community-based interventions, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan appears determined to consolidate her imprint as one of Kogi Central’s most people-focused representatives in Nigeria’s Senate.
