In recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development and corporate collaboration, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and Tecnimont Nigeria Limited have jointly honoured High Chief (Prince) Sunny Graham Nkpe with the Award of Exceptional Leadership Support.

The prestigious recognition came during the Women Skill Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programme, which featured the Graduation and Award of Certificates/Starter Packs for Host Communities of Eleme and Okrika, held on Friday at Genesis Academy, Trans Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt. The training covered skills in catering and fashion designing/tailoring.

Presenting the award on behalf of Tecnimont Nigeria, Chief F.D. Omeme described Chief Nkpe as a “bridge builder” whose selfless service has fostered harmony between the host communities, the Port Harcourt Refinery Company (PHRC), and Tecnimont.

“He has been a bridge between the Eleme JCRC and the Okrika JCRC, between Tecnimont and the Port Harcourt Refinery,” Chief Omeme said. “At a point in time, whenever things became difficult, we called on him, and he was always there to help — sometimes using his own personal resources. All his interest is to see that the Port Harcourt Refinery works so that his people will be happy.”

Omeme, who spoke passionately about Nkpe’s dedication, added that his leadership has inspired confidence and unity among stakeholders.

“The kings of Okrika and Eleme, as well as the management of PHRC and Tecnimont, are all comfortable with the way he handles things. We all listen to him. He coordinates himself properly, and Tecnimont appreciates that. God will continue to lift him higher,” he declared.

Although Chief Nkpe was unavoidably absent due to prior engagements, the award was received on his behalf by Mr. Tony Obari, Chairman of the Eleme Joint Community Relations Committee (JCRC) at PHRC. In his brief remark, Obari expressed gratitude to NNPC and Tecnimont for recognizing Chief Nkpe’s contributions, describing him as “a true community builder whose leadership continues to inspire peace and progress among host communities.”

High Chief Prince Sunny Graham Enuolare Adimkpa Nkpe, a distinguished businessman and philanthropist from Eleme in Rivers State, is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wesham Group, a conglomerate with subsidiaries across oil and gas, logistics, hospitality, construction, and security sectors.

Having begun his career in CANCO Nigeria Ltd in 1999, Chief Nkpe founded Wesham Oil & Gas Services Ltd, with offices in Port Harcourt, Lagos, and San Francisco, USA. Today, Wesham Group employs over 350 Nigerians from various ethnic backgrounds, contributing significantly to national economic growth.

An influential player in the petroleum industry, Chief Nkpe currently serves as the Zonal Chairman for System 2E Eastern Zone of PETROAN (Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria) and is a former State Chairman of IPMAN (Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria).

Internationally, he is associated with the U.S. Commercial Service, Canada Trade Mission, and UK Trade Mission, often representing Nigeria at global oil and gas conferences.

Beyond business, Chief Nkpe is a philanthropist who has empowered over 1,000 youths through training, scholarships, and employment initiatives. His charitable works include providing vehicles for commercial use and supporting numerous community projects.

With his latest recognition from NNPC and Tecnimont, Chief Sunny Graham Nkpe’s name remains synonymous with visionary leadership, peace-building, and human capacity development — values that continue to inspire both the corporate and community spheres of the Niger Delta.
